The National Housing Maintenance Forum promotes best practice in maintenance, and manages the development of the NHF Schedule of Rates to ensure it is kept up to date with the changing needs of maintenance practitioners. The NHF Schedule was originally developed by eight housing associations, who made it available to other organisations via the National Housing Federation. In 1994 the NHF set up a Committee elected by users to manage it, which became the NHMF. |

The NHF Schedule is now recognised as the standard schedule for social housing organisations in the UK and is used by the majority of them for managing and benchmarking their repairs and maintenance through a variety of partnering and measured term contracts. A range of products has been developed around the Schedule by M3 Housing, working under the NHMF’s direction, including repairs diagnostic systems (eg Locator Plus, Housecall and Repair Handbooks), Cyclical Maintenance Modules, asset management module (Foremaster), and benchmarking ( Checkmate Club). |
We helped to fund an asset management post at the NHF and have advised on, (and contributed to), their range of asset management publications including Best Practice in Maintenance, Managing the Assets, Housing Investment Appraisal, Delivering Decent Homes, and a new EU Procurement Guide. We support the NHF on maintenance issues from a practitioner’s perspective.
Each year we publish a free Bulletin to promote best practice in maintenance which is widely distributed around the social housing sector.
