National Housing Maintenance Forum

Setting the standard for maintaining assets

Plenary 1 - Tuesday 10:00

Social responsibility as a driver of business improvement

Social Housing provision continues to come under pressure from all sides, such as a continuing stream of fresh regulations, perennial financial pressures, and increasing expectations of residents and their representatives.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reflects the expectations of society that service organisations will take into account the needs of all relevant stakeholders. This may sound demanding. But effective stakeholder management can be a way to improved business performance. It can drive improvements in service delivery. Through better communications it reduces potential areas of dis-satisfaction on the part of residents and others.

The presentation will introduce the idea of CSR, explain its relevance to housing maintenance, and then discuss case studies that will demonstrate its value in practice.

Speaker - Dr Paul Griseri (Head of Department of Business and Management, Middlesex University Business School)
