John is a senior Chartered Surveyor specialising in sustainability and environmental management with wide experience at director level in the business, public and voluntary sectors. This ranges across the spectrum from influential engagement in Europe and United Kingdom in key policies and strategies, to the leadership and management of leading edge sustainable development, resource efficiency and waste minimisation projects with business, local authorities and social housing organisations.

John and is also Managing Director of Bates Wood Limited and a Director of the Sustainable Housing Action Partnership, Sustainability West Midlands, the Midlands Environmental Business Company and the Complete Industry Certification Scheme Stoke on Trent.
