Workshop 1d - Tuesday 11:30

An alternative approach to securing void properties

Join our debate looking at the re-interpretation of property security in this country as a social responsibility. For property owners, the removal of squatters can result in long and expensive legal action before an eviction notice can be served. Security guards and boarding up methods do not always prevent squatters. Issuing a temporary licence to occupy a unit to a guardian provides a security solution, and fulfils a social need for affordable housing.  A new approach to void security offers low cost accommodation to working professionals and keys workers who struggle to get their foot on the housing ladder.
