We all hate to waste resources. In 2000 the Seddon Group launched a pilot operation to divert from landfill as much of the waste generated from its construction sites in Greater Manchester as possible. Rod was charged with developing this business on a commercial scale. He will outline the challenges faced in establishing the CIRCLE waste transfer station in Liverpool which is a partnership with 2 major RSLs.
He will then discuss how this links to Seddon's wider environmental and community objectives - through, for example, community liaison managers, an extensive apprenticeship scheme and local employment policy - and the use of pilot projects to develop other eco-friendly initiatives for energy efficiency, site waste management plans, bio fuels - and even sheeps wool insulation!
