National Housing Maintenance Forum

Setting the standard for maintaining assets

Plenary 4 - Wednesday 9:30

The future of housing regulation: what does this mean for repairs and maintenance?

The new regulatory framework for social housing in England under the 2008 Act will come into full effect from 1 April 2010.  This will herald a significant change in the way that social landlords are regulated. The session will provide an overview of the Tenant Services Authority vision of co-regulation, including the draft proposals set out in the statutory consultation document released in November. The session will focus on the standards relating to quality of accommodation, repairs and maintenance and health and safety, and indicate the key challenges for local authorities, ALMOs and housing associations.

Speaker - Lesley Barnard, (Tenant Standards Manager (North), Tenant Services Authority)
