Jo Patterson

Director of Research, Cardiff University

Jo Patterson is Director for Research and Director of the Centre for a Low Carbon Built Environment at the Welsh School of Architecture (WSA) at Cardiff University (CU) and sits on the Management Board of the CU Net Zero Innovation Institute. As Strategic Lead of the EPSRC Harmonised Impact Accelerator Account, she collaborates with a team from across CU to fund projects that bridge the gap between research and real-world impact. Additionally, Jo is part of the UKRI Interdisciplinary Assessment College as part of the Chair Pool working across the UKRI disciplines. Previously, Jo led the £3.5m Low Carbon Built Environment Project providing evidence to support the implementation of low-carbon technologies in existing housing. She also played a key role in the £11m EnergyREV Programme, working with an interdisciplinary team of 70+ researchers from 22 UK Universities to scale up smart local energy systems. Jo leads several research projects in the housing sector, working with a broad range of stakeholders to expand low carbon-built environments.
