Stephen Gapik is the Managing Director of Soltherm UK & Ireland, a pioneering insulation manufacturing and contracting business within the Berger Group. With over 20 years’ experience in highly regulated, technically complex industries, Stephen is a recognised expert in energy efficiency and large-scale transformation. He is known for driving organic growth, delivering commercial innovation, and establishing Soltherm’s reputation for technical excellence and market disruption within the fire safety and energy efficiency sectors—particularly for external wall insulation.

Stephen is passionate about developing and commercialising new insulation technologies, a focus that has positioned Soltherm as the UK’s most advanced ETICS system provider and a frontrunner in social housing retrofit. His leadership has enabled the company to play a vital role in delivering innovative, high-performance solutions for both public and private sector clients.

Beyond his role at Soltherm, Stephen works closely with key industry stakeholders across the UK and Europe. He serves on the executive committee of the Sustainable Energy Association and is an influential sector voice, shaping policy through his engagement with the Worshipful Company of Constructors and the Parliamentary Group on Healthy Homes.

Stephen’s core expertise includes insulation manufacturing, product innovation, complex sales strategies, R&D commercialisation, operational scaling, and public sector engagement. Before joining Soltherm, he held senior roles at British Gas, where he managed large-scale portfolios and led the integration of regulated obligations, energy services, and new market development.

He holds a BA (Hons) in History from the University of Leeds and, and is regularly reminded by friends and family he is a bit of a history bore.
