Professor of Sustainable Architecture and Climate Change, Director of OISD and LCB Group, Oxford Brookes University
Professor Rajat Gupta is Director of the multi-disciplinary Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development and Low Carbon Building Research Group at Oxford Brookes University. Rajat’s research interests lie in building performance evaluation, decarbonising the building sector through energy efficiency, renewables and smart energy systems, local area energy mapping for scaling up energy retrofits, and climate change adaptation. He has led building performance monitoring and user surveys in a range of field trial based projects on whole building retrofits. As Principal Investigator he has won over £13 million in research grants which include leading major interdisciplinary research projects on community-led energy retrofits, scaling up energy retrofits and smart storage of solar electricity in a cluster of dwellings in Oxford. He has also led an inaugural study sponsored by the Building Performance Network on State of the Nation Review of Housing Performance in the UK. Rajat has produced over 150 publications, including strategic research papers on the future direction of energy demand research and evaluation of an innovative national deep retrofit programme.
