Conference Workshop 1a

Tuesday 25 January 2011 11.30

1A Asbestos compliance – essential to get it right

This session will seek to answer a number of key questions, will identify potential weaknesses and consider some practical solutions and procurement options relating to Asbestos Compliance. There are a number of current issues:

·         How many surveys is enough?

·         Communal and domestic?

·         How often should you re-inspect?

·         Is your register fit for purpose?

·         Have you told your residents where you found it?

If you are unclear about these and related issues and want to find out more about increasing your preparedness for possible HSE Inspection, this session will be for you.

Legislation and guidance is often unhelpful in respect of a domestic property portfolio, with detailed interpretation left to “duty holders” who are least equipped to make such judgements.  Asbestos remains an emotive subject for residents too, and it is important that your asbestos surveyor provides you with what you need, rather than simply protecting their professional indemnity.
