The Government’s new Green Deal is due to go live later in 2012. Under the Green Deal, energy efficiency measures can be installed in any type of property – business or domestic, owner occupied, private or social rented sector - at no up-front cost, with repayments made out of the expected energy bill savings. Green Deal will be supported by a new energy company obligation (ECO) providing additional help where it’s needed most, e.g. for hard to treat solid wall, properties, and for the most vulnerable and low income groups. This session will explain the basic framework of Green Deal, and explore crucial issues such as:
· How can Green Deal work best for the specific needs and circumstances of the social housing sector?
· What are the best delivery models and partnership arrangements to ensure maximum take up on a local, area basis?
· How can we ensure that Green Deal finance and energy company obligation (ECO) money come together easily and seamlessly for the households concerned?
