Our colleagues at Orbit Group have partnered with the University of Sussex, Science Policy Research Unit and Henley Business School to map some of the key challenges SMEs face with Net Zero, and co-produce training materials to help smaller supply chain members expand their Net Zero training activities. In particular, the project is examining place-based and supply chain-based approaches to Net Zero training.

This project seeks to:

1) understand the key challenges and ways of engaging SMEs with engaging with and taking action towards Net Zero; and
2) develop a suite of free training materials (a toolkit and a video) to be used by SMEs in the supply chain who aren’t currently in the Net Zero space.

The project is looking to recruit another 10 medium size companies in the UK (with 50 to 250 employees, or between £10 to £50 million turnover), who are NOT explicitly focused on delivering Net Zero or sustainability services and products.  Interested companies could have no or limited prior engagement with Net Zero, or already established carbon management reporting and/or plans.

The selected companies will be invited to take part in a workshop which will pilot the Net Zero training materials. The workshop will likely take place in September 2023. Participants in the workshop will receive Amazon vouchers as a payment for their time.
