MA, PhD and Registered Architect.

NHMF Deputy Secretary and Adviser who developed and maintains the NHMF’s best practice website to help social landlords maintain good quality, warm, safe and healthy homes. Registered architect who worked in central government, managing construction research and writing building regulations and practical guidance relating to ventilation, energy efficiency and access.

He developed the Government’s energy efficiency and fuel poverty policy during 1980s. Subsequently led the National Housing Federation’s work on the design, construction and maintenance of good quality, sustainable housing association homes. At the Federation, he worked with officials on housing standards, zero carbon policy, renewable energy, fuel poverty, retrofit and regulation to create the right operating environment for housing associations.

His career began in a local authority research and development group that both designed low energy, high density, inner-city housing and monitored the performance of demonstration projects.
